The Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit chamber of commerce serving the Lake Charles Market Area. The Chamber is membership-based and supported by local industries, businesses, governments, and individuals. Its mission is to promote and support the success of businesses and business owners by providing programs, services, and advocacy that strengthen the local business community.
This position works under the direction of the Chamber Executive Director and with numerous community volunteers. Team members work collaboratively for the good of all, often assisting in areas beyond traditional job responsibilities, with many opportunities for personal and professional growth. The work environment is dynamic, forward-thinking, fast-paced and goal oriented.
Key Responsibilities
The primary objective of this role is to actively seek and maintain membership for the Chamber Southwest Louisiana.- Drive membership growth by identifying prospects, building relationships, and closing new members, clearly communicating the value of Chamber engagement while consistently meeting or exceeding sales goals
- Serve as a primary relationship manager for approximately 700 member businesses, leading onboarding, engagement, retention, and responsive service
- Identify opportunities for membership upgrades, sponsorships, and deeper engagement that enhance member value and support organizational revenue goals
- Support sponsorship and partnership sales tied to programs, events, and special initiatives, ensuring strong execution and a positive member experience
- Maintain accurate CRM records and manage a disciplined sales pipeline, tracking prospects, renewals, engagement activity, and performance metrics
- Prepare regular membership, sales, and retention reports to support leadership decision-making and organizational planning
- Actively participate in Chamber programs, meetings, and events, representing the organization professionally and contributing to a positive, engaging member experience
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred; equivalent professional experience considered
- 3+ years of experience in sales, business development, fundraising, or a membership-based organization
- Demonstrated success meeting revenue or growth goals and managing a prospect pipeline
- Strong relationship-building, networking, and communication skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Experience with CRM systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); familiarity with social media platforms a plus
- Self-motivated, organized, and outcomes-focused with strong follow-through
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
